Tips to Becoming a High Performer

Hello February! Hard to believe that the first 31 days of the year came and went. Hopefully, by now you have already written out your 2019 goals and selected the one word that will be the theme for the year. If you haven’t yet…no worries, you still can do it and you can visit my Blog on my Be Productive Coaching website to reference my previous newsletter posts.

Today, I want to talk to you about becoming a high performer and how to stay consistent in order to achieve long term success. High performance is all about consistency. Anytime we get really good at something is because we always do it and we become experts by being consistent. Take riding a bike for the first time, it wasn’t easy and you probably fell a few times before you got really good at it. Well being a high performer is very similar. Sometimes we have to fall a few times before we become really good at it. But you must practice consistently in order to get good otherwise, you’ll never master it.

Following are three tips to becoming a high performer that you can incorporate immediately. These tips will hopefully compliment the work you are already doing to reach your goals this year and perform at your optimal.

  1. Change your habits: Like the old saying says “change your habits, change your life”. This is so true. Take inventory of your daily habits and ask yourself if what you are doing is helping you get closer to your goals. What are habits? According to the dictionary: “A settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up” Write down your habits and examine which habits are keeping you from exceeding and becoming the best version of yourself. Once you recognize these and you exchange them with good habits and sustain them with purpose, you will reach longterm success.
  2. Seek Clarity: Ask yourself some questions to get clear on what it is you want. Who do I want to be? What emotional feelings do I want to feel? What do I want to experience? What do I want my next decision to be? How do I want to feel physically?
  3. Generate Energy: All high performers are filled with energy. They have mental focus and stamina. They maintain a positive range of emotions and do not let things get to them. Most are active, strong and keep a healthy lifestyle. They do not burn out. How can you generate energy? By taking care of yourself emotionally and physically. Creating a positive mindset. Meditation, prayer, affirmations, and viewing the glass half full at all times by being solution driven. Physically you can keep yourself energized with exercise, daily walks, eating balanced meals (lots of greens, vegetables, and water), and sleep. My favorite energy generators are vacations and travel. ?
Success like everything else doesn’t come overnight and at times we lose our mojo. The important thing is to get ourselves back up and create those positive habits that will help us maintain our high performance.
